TOP TEN FOR JUNE (All drugstore*)
1. Nuance Salma Hayek Walnut Facial Scrub, $8.49
- Definitely one of the best exfoliators I've ever used. It didn't cause me to break out and it was gentle. I love the skin care line and how natural it is! I would buy this again, and many other products from Nuance. I use it a couple of times per week mostly at night, but if I sleep in my makeup, I will use it the next morning!
2. Hask Macadamia Hair Oil Vial, $2.99
- This smells amazing! My hair feels and looks so much better than when I was using Moroccan Aragon oil! My hair is healthier looking and doesn't seem as damaged (although I have a whole new hair routine for several months now). This is good for summer when our hair becomes dry from the elements and chlorine, etc.
3. Jergens BB Body, $12.99
- I was hesitant to buy this moisturizer because of the price, but I was pretty pleased with the results. At first, I bought a sample sized for the light skin tones and then I bought the full sized bottle (price above) for darker skin tones for this summer. It smells really nice and feels moisturizing. It doesn't say it on the bottle, and I've scoured the internet looking for any clues, but I'm pretty sure this adds a faint amount of tan over time? Don't quote me! Overall, I think the 5 beautifying benefits and skin perfecting properties are good for me, as I have a lot of imperfections and scarring!
4. Olay Pro X Face Brush, $34.99
- HOLY GRAIL! This is actually better on my skin than the Clarisonic--from what I remember! Love it! I used it several times per week, but sometimes I take a break, because I've been exfoliating like crazy lately! It gets so much more dirt and makeup out!
5. Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Spray, $14.99
- HOLY GRAIL 4 LYF3! I'm not kidding, this is one of those products I will trust for the rest of my life and tell everyone about! I've been using it for years and it works like a miracle. I prefer the spray to the lotion. It's cosmetic, so it washes off, but it doesn't come off with drips of liquid or small accidents (my experience). I love that it's a foundation, because it helps even out any blemishes or scaring I have! It also takes about 2 minutes to apply! No mess! Btw, I use it everywhere on my body (except face, neck & décolletage)!
6. Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow in 22 Bella Gold, $4.49
- So beautiful for any time of year-it adds a nice bronzed glow for the summer. This eyeshadow is pigmented, rich and it applies easily with my fingers. Love it!
7. Olay Fresh Effects Clear Skin Swirled Mattifier, $10.99
- Originally I got this product as a sample from a lady in the beauty department at CVS-she had given me a Beauty Insider Club Rewards baggie! I was shocked at the reduction in the redness around my popped pimples and general red skin! I ended up buying the full sized and I plan on trying it this summer in the heat when my faces gets red and shiny more often!
8. NYX Baked Blush in BBL05 Foreplay, $6.99
- This blush is so beautiful and glow-y! It reminds me of Orgasm by Nars slightly! It's very pigmented and needs to be applied with a light hand. A little bit goes a long way! This color and soft glow were perfect on my fair skin! Again, only if you apply a small amount-it's either very pigmented or else the brush picks up a larger amount than other blushes I've used!
9. Wet n Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain in 126 Rico Mauve, $2.99
- Shocked that a balm stain this cheap could be so good, but Wet n Wild tends to amaze from time to time! Rico Mauve is a beautiful blushed mauve color which falls into the blushed nudes category for my skin tone and natural lip color. It's so pretty for day and night. It's also not drying! It seems to be moisturizing!
10. NYC Sun 'n' Bronze Bronzing Powder in 707 Fire Island Tan, $4.59
- Not too shabby. I like it as a very light bronzer! It's not too pigmented and the brush doesn't seem to pick up a lot, but I need something like this for everyday wear, considering how pale & fair my skin is! I would not recommend this for darker skin tones, and it's doing me just fine for now (especially for that price)! Definitely an improvement from the Wet n Wild and the Rimmel, which seemed orange to me!
*Also: I will be putting up a list of my picks for the worst products I bought and tried! Some were not worth the price, others didn't do what they said, and some were just downright disappointing fails!
Have you tried anything on my top 10 list for last month? What did you think? Been eyeing one of these products? Did you have any favorite products last month? Leave a comment below & let me know your thoughts!
Thank you!
As you may have guessed, I live in the USA, and on Saturday, we celebrated the 4th of July! So I'm telling you now for future reference... If I have an opportunity to theme my look or get festive, I will. I generally try to do something pretty and fashionable if the occasion permits. Rest assured, you will see more of my themed and festive outfits and beauty looks!
Here is my outfit of the day and my makeup of the day from Saturday! I'm really digging this makeup look, which I did with only drugstore makeup products! Please let me know if you want to see a makeup tutorial on YouTube? Also, the clothing and jewelry are all on the inexpensive side.
*ALSO: I cut my hair (by myself) around 6-inches the day before! I'm not sure how it looks! It needed to be done so bad*
I've been nominated by Adriana from --> Adriana Reis <-- to do The Liebster Award! This award is a way for new bloggers to get discovered! It involves answering 10 question set by the person you have been nominated by and then setting some question for the blog you nominate.
The Liebster Award Rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog.
2. Answer the 10 questions given
HOWEVER, I'm going to do something a little different. I've followed the first two rules out of gratitude, but I'm going to allow all bloggers (with less than 200 followers) who read this post to nominate themselves & get discovered. The only thing I ask is that you leave a link to my blog, so that your readers can find my site! I'm also going to leave the 4th rule out... I like these questions!
THE QUESTIONS I WAS GIVEN:
1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I've always admired the internet's ability to inspire, support, and spread information and ideas. I love the escapism that blogging provides for me. The people from my personal life (outside of She-IY World) don't read nor watch anything I do here. Not sharing this part of me with anyone that I know has given me back a sense of freedom and joy that I no longer had. This is my therapy.
2. What's the best holiday you have been on?
I've been on too many wonderful holidays. I would say either a fun trip from my childhood or else any of the countries I've visited.
3. What is your go to beauty product?
My go to beauty product is a toss up between makeup-removing face wipes and Vaseline.
4. Best blog post you have read this year?
I'm not sure if there is a "best" considering I have a ton of interests! With that said, I recently read a post that made me tear up! My college friend, Erin Chack, is a writer at Buzzfeed and she wrote a post called Ten Times I Knew I Loved You for a special anniversary. It was amazing to know her beautiful story.
5. What is your must have clothing item?
My wardrobe must-have is a cover-up: cardigans, blazers, scarves and/or kimonos. I'd be a mess without them for one too many reasons!
6. What's a travel destination you want to visit?
It's difficult to say, because most of the countries I'd like to visit aren't the safest for traveling based on their current socio, economic and political situations. In my country, I'd have to go with either Hawaii or California. Abroad, I'd say Norway or England.
7. What's your favourite blog that you follow?
I think my first favorite blog was either Fashion Toast or Olsen's Anonymous. Now, it's probably Refinery29!
8. If you were on a deserted Island what 3 things would take with you?
Weather-stable tent, hardcore pocket knife and solar powered lights.
9. Favourite book you've read this year?
I don't think I've read a book since before January. I normally read books during the summer. One of the best books I finished last summer was The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory.
10. What is your number 1 goal for this year?
My number 1 goal is to overcome the illness that I've been dealing with, say yes to more things and to laugh everyday.
Thank you for reading this post! I'm indecisive with my personal interests, so I hope that you still got something out of my answers. Again, if you decide you'd like to do this award also, then please link my blog and leave a comment below so I can check it out!

Not All Drugstore Nail Products are the same... Here's what I've learned!
9:06 AMUnknown
Howdy Folks,
I have learned the horrible truth that some nail polish has toxic, harmful, damaging and cancer causing ingredients. Not only that, but a lot of what we put on our nails to care for them and enhance their appearance, can actually cause our nails to do the opposite in the long run. Some of the short and long terms problems associated with these products: yellow, stained and discolored nails; peeling, breaking and thinning of the nails; inability to grow long or thick/hard nails; and lastly, the cuticles can become dehydrated, raw, bloody, hard, infected, etc. I didn't know my beloved bottles of nail polish contained ingredients that are sometimes called the "toxic trio" on the beauty streets. Meet the "toxic" trio: formaldehyde (a carcinogen used as a hardening agent), toluene (evenly distributes color) and DBP (which adds flexibility and sheen). Toluene and DBP are linked to developmental defects. The people who are probably most at risk for long term problems associated with the "toxic trio" are pregnant women, children that are more susceptible and chew or bite their fingers and nails, people who bite their nails in general, and salon workers or people who work with nail polish often.
After learning about all of this, I thought that better options would be hard to find and possibly expensive. I didn't want to have to spend a lot of money or order nail polish online that potentially would lack pigment or dry slowly, etc in order to get healthy products. I want to stick with drugstore nail products, so here is a list of some products that seem to be potentially less damaging or toxic to among the drugstore options:
*Options with an asterisk (*) are free of 5 potentially harmful toxins: Formaldehyde, DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor.
**All of the other options listed are free of the "toxic trio" listed above.
Once again, please check out the video that I made, which shows the steps I'm using to get my nails in better shape! Here's to longer, stronger nails!

- To save time and space, here is a full list of the Sally Hansen nail care products at CVS (again, Sally Hansen claims to be free of toxic trio mentioned above) http://www.cvs.com/search/N-0?searchTerm=SallyHansenNailCare&DCSext.TriadCampID=78902

- There are a few other brands that I've seen in drugstores that seem to be natural and beneficial. I have not tried most of them. I believe researching the company websites is always beneficial!

- Nail Clipper (try to cut straight across and not too short):
- Nail Polish Remover:
- Nail polish remover isn't too good for your nails and you should try to avoid using it as much as you can. There are natural, online brands that sell less damaging remover, but from what I've read some of them aren't as good as the drugstore nail polish removers that we're used to. Here's a couple of options that seem to at least have some beneficial properties:
- http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/makeup/nails/nail-tools/sweet-almond-oil-nail-polish-remover.aspx?utm_source=GoogleShopping&utm_medium=sem_gen&utm_campaign=061914_Generic&utm_term=&utm_content=Q22015&cvosrc=cse.google.22132&cvo_campaign=061914&cvo_crid=62444911594&vendor=CSE_GOOG&mr:trackingCode=67EAC86C-2159-E411-B3C3-B8CA3A5D9DDA&mr:referralID=NA&mr:device=c&mr:adType=plaonline&mr:ad=62444911594&mr:keyword=&mr:match=&mr:filter=70255265780&gclid=CjwKEAjwwZmsBRDOh7C6rKO8zkcSJABCusnboNZqJq0XPMyI0r2eh_RUsYLmUM4NytOzy8COLp55mxoCnkvw_wcB
- http://www.cvs.com/shop/beauty/makeup/nails/honeybee-gardens-nail-polish-remover-4-oz-skuid-558097
- Gel Manicures and Acrylics
- When it comes to these two, you need to remove them carefully as they can damage the nail and remove some of your nail plate. This is a topic for another post, but be gentle when removing them, don't scrape, chip or pull them off your nail. The best thing to do for gels is to soak them in nail polish remover for a long enough time that they very easily come off with a scrapper.

*Pro Tips: Use sunscreen on your hands to prevent sun spots and aging, use keratin and vitamin e on hands cuticles and nails. When cleaning or doing the dishes, wear gloves. Always wear gloves when it's cold outside or really windy. Moisturize and use cuticle oils and creams. Don't bite you nails-get a bad tasting nail polish or get a mouth guard if you do it in your sleep. The same goes for bitings at the skin surrounding your nails. Talk to your doctor or a dermatologist if it's severe or affecting your life. It can cause problems.
Once again, please check out the video that I made, which shows the steps I'm using to get my nails in better shape! Here's to longer, stronger nails!
So the lesson here is to read the ingredients and research the products that we buy. If you see something happening to your nails or cuticles that doesn't feel nor look very good, reassess what you're putting on your nails and the surrounding area. Everything from cuticle care to nutrition will affect the look and health of your nails. I don't need formaldehyde and other toxic (/cancer causing) ingredients that make it harder to have long, strong and white/clear nails.
***Again, if you are pregnant, nursing, bite your nails or use nail polish on a child (especially a child that bites or chews their finger/nail area), then I would advise that you make sure that the polishes and products that you are using are non-toxic; when in doubt, talk to a pharmacist or your doctor or reach out to the company for guaranteed facts and ingredients (but know that not everyone is informed or telling the whole truth).
Have you used any of the products mentioned above? Did they work well? What healthy nail products do you use? Please tell us what you use and how you like it! Questions or comments? Leave them in the comments section below!

Hello Everyone!
Thank you for visiting my blog! I recently made a YouTube video, which shows my current nail care routine! Please watch this video and like it, if you would like to! I would appreciate the support!
In this nail care routine, I show how I care for my cuticles, remove discoloration and protect and strengthen my nails! I also show what lotion I use that helps to keep my hands and nails healthy. Not only do I want to remove all of the discoloration and yellowing from nail polishes, etc., but I want my nails to be thicker, stronger and longer! Whenever I've had fake nails, acrylics or gel manicures my nails are a lot weaker and damaged after. I want to try to get my nails to be strong and long on their own! I'm hoping that this nail care routine will get me the kind of au naturale nails that people ask if they're fake!

I'm hoping that this nail care routine will get me the kind of au naturale nails that people ask if they're fake!
Here is the video & below I'm posting the steps & products for this nail care routine:
IN THIS VIDEO:
1. CVS Vitamin E Oil (30, 000 IU per bottle)
2. A metal cuticle pusher with two flat ends. {*I don't recommend this cuticle pusher. I will show better products in my next blog post!}
3. 4 tablespoons of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda
4. 2 tablespoons of Hydrogen Peroxide (I DO NOT suggest using isopropyl rubbing alcohol-I only used it in this video to signify that there's another step at that point)
5. 1 cup of hot water--not boiling (I don't want you to scald or burn yourself). I used hot water, which was hotter than warm, but tolerable for me to soak my fingers and nails in. It just needs to be hot enough to dissolve the baking soda.
6. 4-sided Beauty Buffing Block. I used the buffing side of the block. I got mine for like $1 or $2 at Walgreens.
7. I washed my hands with soap, water & dried them.
8. 1 coat of Sally Hansen Miracle Cure For Severe Nail Problems to stop peeling and restore strength. CVS.
9. 2 coats of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails UV Top Coat. This top coat came in a 3-polish, french manicure set. I don't think it's sold individually? They do have a Sally Hansen Advanced Hard as Nails Strengthening Top Coat, which I think I'm going to buy!
10. CVS Healthy Hands Hand & Nail Care Lotion, which has Alpha Hydroxy, Keratin & Vitamin E. It's fairly inexpensive at CVS for about $2.99! {The lotion says this lotion immediately hydrates the skin for instant relief. In 2 weeks, Healthy Hands strengthens nails and softens cuticles. Within 4 weeks, Healthy Hands diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Do more to keep your hands and nails looking and feeling healthy every day.}
Do you have any questions or comments? Please leave them below!I hope you liked this video and blog post! If you did please give it a thumbs up & subscribe to my channel! I'm building my channel & appreciate the support! As always, please let me know if you have a channel that you would like me to check out! Add me on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest & my Blog!

Hello Everyone!
Last night, the 2015 Glamour Woman of the Year Awards took place in London. I was excited to see the red carpet looks, but I was surprisingly underwhelmed by what I saw! Don't get me wrong, they're all inspiring, gorgeous women, but I was a little confused about the fashion choices...
Was there a theme or dress code? Everyone seemed like they were at a different event or in a different season of the year...
However, I was still able to make a best dressed list with these 4 glamorous women...
1. My BEST DRESSED goes to Ella Catliff who stunned in Fendi. I thought it was chic, beautiful, fun and a definite statement piece for Spring. The color is gorgeous. Everything from her hair and makeup to her dress and shoes suited her. She actually reminds me of Natalie Portman a bit in this look.
2. Kate Hudson looks like an Old Hollywood actress in this timeless J. Mendel dress. From the beautiful color to the fabric, it was a nice choice. The plunging neckline was a bit of a risk, but I felt that on her frame and with her elegance, she pulled it off! Kate Hudson is normally a red carpet pleaser!
3. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is my next pick for best dressed. She wore a long, backless dress with a high-slit in the front by Cushnie et Ochs. At first I wasn't that impressed, because I didn't think it was anything too exciting. I also thought the dress drowned her a bit in the front and looked too mature and ill-fitting for the 28-year-old; however, after searching for other canidates for best dressed, I realized that there wasn't too many for me. It's very plain and safe, but the 70's-inspired look with the gold chain belt and the rest of her choices grew on me and won me over!
4. My last choice for best dressed is Kerry Washington. This beautiful woman has such a grace and radiance about her! She looked great in this tube top and skirt by David Koma, and I loved her hair. My only issue is that I wish this look was more eye catching. The gold embellishment and pattern on her skirt in contrast to the black seemed more suitable for a different time of year than June. I would have loved to have seen this outfit, but in a colorful or crisp, Springtime style. Other than that, she looked great and is definitely on my best dressed list!
Who did you think was the best dressed at the awards show last night? Did you have any favorites?
You're worth it,

"She does it herself..."
Hello everyone!
I'm so thrilled to announce that Bruce Jenner has been reborn into his long awaited self,Caitlyn Jenner. Caitlyn is beautiful, brave and inspiring... But hasn't Jenner always been that kind of person? Now she can feel it on the inside too, and for that my heart is warm.
To see someone, especially a person in her position--America's Olympic hero, father to 6 children, (ex/)husband to 3 wives, son, motivational speaker, and a celebrity in a family that is constantly on camera being judged... For her to come out and tell her truth, I cannot fathom the amount of courage, strength and bravery that Caitlyn had and has to take these steps. She told the world with such grace and clarity. The LGBT community will forever love her. This amazing, special human has made history once again... her second Olympics is over. She is America's hero again.
Meet Caitlyn...
Caitlyn Jenner is stunning. She has inspired me to be my true self and to own every inch of me! I'm so happy to have lived in this lifetime and gotten the chance to meet her and learn from her.
I hope that Caitlyn's introduction to the world will inspire people to be more understanding and accepting. I hope that this changes the climate of society and allows the folks in the LGBT community to champion in their own lives. Most importantly, I hope this prevents suicides, self harm, depression, anxiety, parental scorn, bullying and shame to all of those who are different--especially the trans community.
Caitlyn will debut on the cover of Vanity Fair. The photographs were shot by the powerful, outstanding Annie Leibovitz. Here are some more photographs from the spread:
Hello Blogosphere!
Recently, I've incorporated anti-aging into my daily routine! After all, our skin is the largest organ that we have and the only one that we wear on the outside! Sadly, I realized that I have not taken care of my skin properly, and I've made a lot of mistakes (but that's a story for another blog post)!
I did a lot of research and talked to some skin-care-veterans, trying to figure out the best route to healthy skin aging: At what age should I begin adding anti-aging into my routine? Can I reverse skin damage that I already have? Which is the most beneficial/least harmful way to go about all of this? ETC.
I came up with some good information, but I also found a lot of contradictory information. Then I thought... Who better to look to than some of the people in the public eye who seem to be doing it well!? DUH! Seeing proof is always the most believable and interesting to gawk at (o-o)!
v READ to the bottom for the rest of the story & what you can do! v
*Disclaimer: some of these celebrities may not be completely natural or have had minor work or treatments done, but according to my understanding they all seem to still look like the younger versions of themselves, and they also seem to preach a healthy, natural lifestyle! I'm sure some of them have had botox or other treatments.
30-SOMETHINGS:
1. KATE HUDSON
(Has spoken about her dedication to consistent fitness and health. She also has a athletic wear line that is supposed to be suitable for all shapes and sizes.)
